چکیده
Abstract In recent years, tan spot of wheat caused by the fungus Pyrenophora tritici-repentis has become more prevalent in Oklahoma. Experiments were conducted to investigate race structure, disease symptoms and genetic variability P. isolates collected from winter over three decades. Race determination was for 16 based on expression necrosis and/or chlorosis produced differentials. Variability expressed 12 determined 13 hard red cultivars grown addition, among 17 using amplified fragment length polymorphism-polymerase chain reaction (AFLP-PCR). All except one (El Reno) classified as 1. Isolates varied widely producing cultivars, but with a chlorotic halo predominant (56.4%). AFLP-PCR analysis primer pairs total 494 alleles which 285 polymorphic. The overall diversity 25.2%. Genetic relationships cluster principal component showed only minor differences between isolates, did not form tight clusters or groups. predominantly 1; however, they range cultivars. lack distinct grouping AFLP marker study indicates that used this likely originated single lineage.

Characterization of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (Tan Spot of Wheat) Races in Baltic States and Romania
Tan spot, caused by the fungus Pyrenophora triticirepentis, is economically important foliar disease in Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania; however, race structure from Baltic States and Romania is not known. In this study, we performed genotypic and phenotypic race characterization of a large collection of P. triticirepentis isolates from these countries to determine race structure and utilize thi...

Background: The tan spot disease of wheat caused by Pyrenophera tritici-repentis has become a major disease in most wheat growing areas worldwide. Objectives: Here we used ISSR and RAPD markers to study the genetic diversity of 34 P. tritici-repentis isolates collected from North of Iran. Materials and Methods: The leaves having the typical symptoms of tan spot disease were collected and after...
متن کاملGeneration of a ToxA knockout strain of the wheat tan spot pathogen Pyrenophora tritici-repentis.
The necrotrophic fungal pathogen Pyrenophora tritici-repentis causes tan spot, a major disease of wheat, throughout the world. The proteinaceous effector ToxA is responsible for foliar necrosis on ToxA-sensitive wheat genotypes. The single copy ToxA gene was deleted from a wild-type race 1 P. tritici-repentis isolate via homologous recombination of a knockout construct. Expression of the ToxA t...

متن کاملPopulation Genetic Analysis of a Global Collection of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis, Causal Agent of Tan Spot of Wheat.
ABSTRACT The work presented here is the first major study to analyze the genetic diversity within the worldwide population of the economically important wheat pathogen Pyrenophora tritici-repentis. The genetic structure of field populations of P. tritici-repentis was determined using amplified fragment length polymorphism markers along with sequence data from the internal transcribed spacer reg...
